Local Partnerships

THE WOMEN'S CENTER

  • The Women’s Center is Wake County’s only day shelter for single women experiencing homelessness. They offer important resources, including safety and stabilization services, laundry services, meals, showers, clothing, hygiene products, computer and phone access, and basic needs. The Women’s Center also provides instructional and enrichment workshops and classes, and recovery programming.

  • HOW DOES GRACE SERVE THIS MINISTRY PARTNER?
Grace Raleigh contributes quarterly to The Women’s Center to help support their mission. We also promote ways for Grace Raleigh partners to become involved by offering their time and talent.

HOW CAN I HELP SERVE THIS MINISTRY PARTNER?
The primary ways to volunteer are by hosting breakfast or lunch at the center, or by sorting donated items (primarily food, clothes, and hygiene items) in the warehouse.

We partner with the following local and regional non-profit organizations by offering financial support and providing service opportunities throughout the year.

Fox Road Elementary School

Fox Road Elementary School has a high population of low-income students from many diverse backgrounds. We support the teachers and staff by providing quarterly breakfast or lunch events, and donating items needed for classrooms and assisting students.

Refugee Hope Partners

RHP serves refugee families in the Triangle through more than 100 hours of weekly programming and services across multiple locations, providing encouragement and resources to families as they move from arriving to thriving!

THE GREEN CHAIR PROJECT

The Green Chair Project reuses essential furnishings donated by the community to help neighbors-in-need who are facing the challenges of homelessness, crisis, or disaster.

HOW CAN I HELP SERVE THIS MINISTRY PARTNER?

  • Group Volunteering: This is a great way to get exposed to the program and engage in hands-on work. GCP typically hosts groups on Wednesdays and Fridays from either 10am-noon or 1pm-3pm, and can host up to 12 volunteers on any given day. Volunteers assist in a variety of ways that may include cleaning furniture or other donations, packing items for our clients, organizing supplies, or other similar tasks. They plan activities based on the number of expected volunteers and their greatest needs that week.
  • Sewing: GCP needs volunteers who sew items that go to the families they serve, including placemats, table runners, and pillow covers. Volunteers pick up pre-cut fabric from GCP, sew it at home, and then bring it back at their convenience. They have individual volunteers as well as volunteers who pick up larger amounts and take them to their group.

  • Individual Recurring Volunteers: These opportunities would be for individuals who are interested in coming on a regular basis during GCP business hours (Mon-Fri, 10am-4pm). There are many different areas where volunteer support is needed. A few options are furniture repair/refinishing, general warehouse support, assisting with donation collection, or helping in one of many other areas of the building, such as the kitchen, green room, etc. While recurring spots are somewhat limited, GCP welcomes anyone interested to reach out. They can talk with you about your skills and interests and see if they have an opportunity available that may be a good fit.
